I am a certified Dancemeditation teacher under Dunya Diane McPherson, having completed her extensive four year teacher training, and teach Dancemeditation to groups and individuals. This is a practice that teaches people how to listen to their bodies as deeply as possible. I have had my own meditation practice for many years, and breath and bodywork are often incorporated into my herbal consultations and teaching. www.dancemeditation.org
Some of my other hats include volunteering as the director of the Children’s Magical Garden on the Lower East Side. It's a community garden designed especially for children, creating a safer, stronger community while introducing city kids to the wonders of nature. We grow our own food, teach organic gardening and composting, and have a medicinal herb garden. We mentor young people and children in the arts and nature and host festivals and healing workshops.
I'm on the board of directors of More Gardens!, an NYC based grassroots direct action, advocacy, and educational organization that has been defending, protecting, and expanding community gardens in NYC since 1999, and I'm also an active member of NYCCGC, (New York City Community Garden Coalition), the voice of community gardeners in NYC.
I rescue animals, and my partner Aresh and I have a loving rescued dog who doesn’t mind drinking nettle tea. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NY597.html
I am also a playwright, poet and theater director who trained at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. I have a blog exploring creativity, general musings, and working with the plants.
